Driver description

SYMPTOM:

This firmware update fixes a problem where certain applications do not install correctly from CD or DVD disks. During the install, CRC errors or Exception errors can occur, and the installation fails.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

The above symptom may occur on the following systems:

- Lenovo 3000 Y410, IdeaPad Y510, IdeaPad Y710.

- The computer is equipped with the Optiarc DVD-RW/CD-RW drive, model AD-7560A

To check if your CD/DVD drive is affected:

- Click on the Start button on the taskbar.

- Click on Computer on the right side of the Start Menu.

- Right-click on the CD/DVD RW drive - DVD RW Drive (E:) - in the computer window view, and select Properties from the menu.

- Select the Hardware tab

- Download and apply this update if the name for the device DVD/CD-R… on the list is: Optiarc DVD RW/AD-7560A ATA device.

Downloading the update

Note: This firmware update requires the system to be restarted. Save your data and exit all applications before running the update.

Do NOT restart or power-down the system while the update is in progress.

Download the OPTIARC-AD7560A-D803.exe file from the following URL:

Go to the folder where you saved this file, and double click on the OPTIARC-AD7560A-D803 icon.

A pop up window will appear stating that: you need to have Administrator rights to run the program. Click Yes to proceed.

The program will bring up a window showing the name of the drive with the existing firmware level and the update firmware level:

Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560A - D802

update F/W to D803.

If the drive description is different from Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560A, or the existing firmware is at level D803 or above, you do not need to run the firmware update. Click Exit to leave the program.

If this description matches and your current firmware is below the update level then click Update to apply the fix.

The update process can take up to 2 minutes When it is complete, you will get a pop up window saying that the update was successful. Click Yes if you want to reboot immediately, or No if you prefer to reboot at a later time. The firmware update will take effect after you have rebooted your computer.
