This package installs the software (monitor information file) which defines the following items for ThinkPad LCD.

  • Monitor INF (Information file for the maximum resolution and monitor naming)
  • Windows ICM (Image Color Management file for ICC Color Profile) You can obtain an accurate color representation with the Windows ICM file.

Installation Instructions

Notes:

  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
  • Make sure that the correct display driver is installed prior to installing this software.


Manual Install

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

[Downloading file]

  1. Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. In the window to choose Run or Save, click Save.
  4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click Save.
    A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.

[Extracting file]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
  2. Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
  3. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse.
  6. In the Ready to Install window, click Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.
  7. Select Finish to complete extraction. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR.

      [Installing files]

      1. Press the Windows logo button to display the Start screen.
      2. Select Desktop.
      3. Press and hold the desktop screen to display the shortcut menu, then select Screen resolution.
      4. Select Advanced settings.
      5. Select the Monitor tab.
      6. Select Properties.
      7. Select the Driver tab then select Update Driver.
      8. Select "Browse my computer for driver software".
      9. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
      10. Select Have Disk.
      11. Locate the path where the file was extracted in the step 9, then select Open.
        Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR
      12. Select OK.
      13. Confirm the correct display type, then select Next.
      14. Windows has finished installing. Select Close.
      15. Select Close for Display Propertries.
      16. Select OK for the Monitor tab.
      17. Select OK for the Display Settings.

      Finally delete the file saved in the step 4.
