This package provides the CDC Modem driver for Windows 2000. The Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of ThinkPad AMR Modem (CDC) of the following ThinkPad computers:

- ThinkPad R32 (except Ethernet Wireless integrated model *1)

Note: *1 If your ThinkPad R32 is the Ethernet Wireless integrated model, use the ThinkPad R32 AMR Modem(Wireless LAN Combo)driver for Windows 2000 instead of this package.

If your ThinkPad R32 system is the Ethernet and wireless integrated model, install the Modem driver (AMR Wireless) for Windows 2000 instead of this package.

I. Summary of changes
Version 2.1.20a

  • (Fix) Cannot dial with pulse in Spain
Note:
There is no functional change in the driver itself from v2.1.20. If version v2.1.20 is already installed, and no problem exist, you do not need to install this release

Version 2.1.20

  • (Fix) Fix connectivity issue in Italy.

  • (New) Support ThinkPad R32

II. Installation instructions
NOTE:

  • To determine if you should update the Modem drive, refer to the Summary of changes section.

  • If the audio driver have not been installed on the system, install the audio driver prior to the modem driver.
  1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the administrative privileges
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start and then click Run.
  4. Type C:\DRIVERS\W@K\MODEM\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click the OK button.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. Restart the system for the driver to take effect.
Unattended installation
NOTE: This is for system administrators' use only.
  1. Start Windows and log on with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start and then click Run.
  4. Type C:\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM\SETUP.EXE -S, then click OK.
Uninstall instructions
  1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with administrative privileges
  2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Select Agere Systems AC'97 Modem.
  5. Click Change/Remove.
  6. Click Yes in the confirmation window.
  7. When asked to restart the system, click the Yes button.
NOTE: If you do not remove the modem hardware, then Windows will detect the modem in the next boot.

III. Determining which version is installed
  1. Start Windows 2000
  2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Phone and Modem Options icon.
  4. Click the Modems tab.
  5. Select Agere Systems AC'97 Modem then click the Properties button.
  6. Select the Diagnostics tab and click the Query Modem button.
  7. Check the Command | Response window to verify the results of ATI3. The version of the driver installed is displayed.
Note: This version information does not show minor version. For example, the version 2.1.20a shows version 2.1.20.
