   Do you have Norton Antivirus? This sounds like a Norton Screw up… I would take it to your local best buy and have the techs have a look. It costs like $45.

   You can also go into bios and switch the hdd from asci to ide, then it will let you format. I had to use a usb cdrom to load windows xp, but it worked fine.

   You will need an external cd/rom or dvd rom drive with a bootable CD of your operating system.You can try to install from a USB thumb drive,but it wont work.I tried for 2 whole days but ultimately gave up and bought an external casing for an internal cd rom drive i had in my desktop.I set the bios to boot from my cd and then it was a cakewalk.Casing cost me $10 in india.

   I installed Windows XP Professional onto my Acer Aspire One D250 from a thumb drive. (After installing, then removing Ubuntu.)

   It IS possible – just not easy.

   You can boot from a usb drive all you need to do is press f12 during boot up and select the flash drive. I have reformated mine several times I started with Vista and now have 7 all is fine. the drivers work fine with both OS’s

   hoho.. it very simple, before that, i am also had happen..

   the first thing, u must to enter the bios system.

   1. press f2
   2. when in bios system, u tab the config i think
   3. change the value from AHCI to IDE

   then, save it, after this, u will be format.

   if not, it always giving u a erorr reading like ur hardisk is not conected. tq.

   it very simple, coz they(acer) do not want to give other people reformat their system, by the way, many hacker in the world, include malaysia..

    i’m in the process of doing exactly that right now. i used an external USB dvd drive and a legit copy of Windows XP. it formatted the HDD and installed with no issues, all you have to do is update and get drivers.

    I just bought a reconditioned netbook of acer aspire one intel atom zg5. They upgraded it from linpus linux to xp. But the webcam is not working, I have downloaded the driver for the crystal eye but all i keeps getting is “please plug your usb into the port” huh?! that is what i cannot understand when it is built in.

    its likely that someone has had the notebook apart and not reconnected the cable properly. that or you need a couple of windows/chipset updates for propper usb support

    I’ve downloaded the Atheros WLAN Driver v7.6.0.224 to repair and reinstate my Acer ZG5 netbook’s ability to detect available wireless networks, but the problem persists. I get a message saying that there are no available networks to connect to.

    Does anyone have any ideas and/or recommendations on how I should proceed with this fix???

    I have purchased a Acer Aspire One A0531H from Taiwan. Because the pre-installed Windows XP was in Chinese/ Taiwanese, I got it removed and installed a English version of XP. The problem is that now the following has stopped working:
    > Webcam (Acer Crystal)
    > WLAN
    > Bluetooth
    > Touchpad vertical and horizontal scroll

    Had the same problem, (minus the chinese whatnot) for the touchpad you need to download the Synaptics installer on this page. With the WLAN, you need to download not only the actual WLAN driver, but the driver for the WLAN switch. (In which I cannot remember where to get it from)

    My “Zg5″ runs on Windows 7 Ultimate. Here’s a huge problem, my baby began to slowly miss .dll files, and its beginning to irritate me. I ran my avast! to the max and there seems to be no viruses ever since it started. Ideas? Thanks to this, now I’m hearing this whole “non-valid Windows” thing and I don’t own my CD drive anymore.     For those of you having trouble with ACER Aspire One A0D250 (D250) Acer Crystal Eye webcam, having the trouble of installing and finding it missing the Acer Crystal eyewebcam.msi , installing the latest driver or the driver that it originally installed in Window XP (Camera_liteon_5.8.33.007_XPx86_A) will install but went rebooting it works and then disabled and next reboot you will find your web missing again. The trick around this for me and it may work for you is install the (Camera_Suyin_1.0.2.1_XPx86_A) you will find it saying that your webcam is not property connected via the (usb), since it’s internal webcam, it isn’t a lose connection but a driver issue.

    The procedure is go to http://us.acer.com/ click tab “service and support” , then drop down menu to the left click “Driver Download”. Then select “netbook” under select product family, click “Aspire One”, under select product line, and finally “A0D250″ under select product model.

    You will see on the page OPERATING SYSTEM in orange, click the drop down menu and select the OS that was installed in your netbook. In my case selected WIN XP HOME x32. PAY ATTENTION: to 4th tabs “DRIVER” and 1st tab “APPLICATION”. notice that under application the driver for the webcam is newer or the release dates/modification date is a later date than the 2009/07/30 on application vs 2009/04/01 on driver. Do not attempt to remove or uninstall any of your other drivers but DOWNLOAD all the drivers for your model and save it as a backup in your thumb drive first, so you don’t have to revisit web site when you are offline to correct the driver issues.
    The work around and Solution: Is install the SUYIN webcam then liteon, after install drag shortcut to start up folder or copy and paste over ALL USERS on start up folder. Good Luck everyone,just reinstall webcam drivers and do not uninstall any other drivers to prevent headaches. Don’t throw out your netbook because of webcam driver is faulty not the netbook or the company but the webcam driver, so don’t blame anyone but be patient. As of today your netbook is still worth $200 dollars.

    you need to have an external optical drive in-order for you to re-install XP. try to repair first instead of reformat. if still on blue-screen, you need to backup first your files by removing the hdd (if out of warranty) put it on hdd enclosure, attached to other PC/laptop then proceed to backup, after backing-up your files, you may reformat your OS now. But of course before you do that, you may want to investigate first what causing your system for blue-screen. Did u install anything prior to blue-screen? if yes, you can remove that by entering to safe-mode.

    Can anybody help me pls… i have an acer aspire one netbook now and i have a problem with the audio. everytime i used my headset, the sound is getting slow and distort.. and some of the mp3s are not playing. i tried to change the headset, i tried to reformat with the recovery, but still have the same problem.

    Did you try to re-install the device driver for Audio? or, you may headset with USB interface instead of the traditional connector/jack. There might problem on hardware or the connector of audio itself. Try this two options, hope it finds you well.

    I was reformatting my friends notebook(Aspire 4730Z) with win XP SP3 and i downloaded all the drivers from the official acer site and every driver works fine but i cant get the wireless running. Even after installation of the WLAN driver, nothing happens! Some messages pop up that device may be unplugged when im installing the WLAN driver. After installing all drivers i check the device manager and i notice that there is one driver that is still yellow with a question mark which is the Network Controller.

    HELP!! i recently attempted to reset my acer to factory settings… well all was fine til it needed to reboot…. it did not. i get a system error or file missing messege. i did manage to do a back up to my norton files prior to to attempting this. can anyone make any suggestions as to how or what i need to do next??
